About Us
Johnson Harris & Briscoe Developments
JHB is a socially focussed organisation with its foundational principles built on addressing the basic individual needs of a home. In order to thrive, every individual requires a stable abode to feel safe and be a productive member of society. To address this need, our strategy is built on utilising already available resources through councils empty housing stock, closed churches, disused pubs and other leisure facilities.
Through the Beatitudes, Empty Homes and the Leisure Life Initiatives, we repurpose these buildings into homes, community and commercial facilities. Through the diversified nature of our project, JHB provides training and employment, geared at empowering individuals whilst in the same breath, building communities. Our aim is to create self sufficient and sustainable communities, which will impact positively on the wider society.
Our impact is two folds. Whilst we are are utilising empty and disused stock, councils, Church of England, etc are also receiving profitable returns for otherwise costly dormant assets and contributing positively to ending homelessness.

Focus Areas
Alms Initiative
Maintaining a local connection is a lifeline for many. Others require a sense of security with family and loved ones in close proximity. Access to suitable, affordable accommodation poses a struggle for the poorest and marginalized groups within society. Those with meager or no financial prowess, such as the elderly disabled, or veterans, faces huge challenges to acquire a home. Working in collaboration with relevant charities and social organisation allows JHB to not just provide a home but connected social needs which will empower these individuals.
Asylum and Migrants
The volatile atmosphere which surrounds asylum seekers and migrants have impacted individuals and families severely. Gaining access to basic needs services are proving more difficult. Both private and public bodies have been inundated with the increasing number of individuals now reliant on socially focused services. JHB will bridge that gap to offer opportunities to this disenfranchised group in meeting their basic needs which is a human right irrespective of status, nationality, race or creed.
Private
The UK rental market is currently volatile, which is yet to fully recover from the COVID pandemic. Additionally, the huge decline in the provision of affordable housing are increasingly pushing renters onto the already burden social housing database. Many private renters are unable to access mortgage facilities which further exacerbates the issue. JHB, through an innovative strategy and partnership, is able to offer private first -time purchasers with the ability to make a house a home. We believe that home ownership should not be a luxury.
Social Housing
The Social Housing sector, is experiencing considerable financial constraints. Whilst some councils have declared bankruptcy, others are tethering precariously, impacted by reduced local government spending due to the current financial crises with some yet to recover fully from the COVID Pandemic. Councils are relying heavily on the private sector and housing associations to deliver well needed social housing as the government struggle to meet its demand. Whilst the sector has its challenges, it also offers opportunities for JHB to provide renters and partners with affordable alternatives to better meet their needs.
Respite
Many carers are often unrecognised for the immense work they do. Whilst caring for their loved ones is a noble attribute, they themselves are left feeling empty and overwhelmed at times. Carers need to have a balanced mental and physical wellbeing in an effort to not only provide valuable care but also for themselves to thrive. Providing them with an opportunity to recoup and rejuvenate in an environment which is free from the rigours of their daily responsibilities. JHB provides a holistic approach and environment which caters to their mental, physical and emotional needs.
Women's Refuge
Funding has largely been restricted to initiatives which focuses on assisting women and girls to empower themselves to make informed decisions in abusive relationships. Empowering women and girls isn't merely providing accommodation. Its require proactive strategies to fully equip them to regain their independence. This can not be achieved in a silo but requires collaborative partnership with organisation both private and social to fully liberate each woman/girl who will in turn recognise her worth without compromise.
Co-Working
Businesses thrive in a environment which fosters growth. Similarly, individuals are empowered through proactive mentorship and partnership with likeminded, sharing goals and ethos. JHB do not merely offer co-working spaces, but we promote the development of of our clients. Irrespective of whether you are an organisation or an individual, your development is our business. Additionally, we contribute to the development of our core clients in creating business strategies and advise in fostering personal and professional development.
Leisure & Restaurants
In remaining true to our ethos in not merely providing a home but empowering individuals, families and communities, specially curated facilities which do not meet the specification for housing development will be ustilised in creating viable businesses to foster community growth and development which leads to sustainability. Through these initiatives, employment and job creation will be promoted, providing skill development and training. Successful businesses will also aid in our own long-term strategic success and ability to continuing impacting lives and communities.
Schools
With an increasing number of schools failing, it is imperative that the private sector and local authorities collaborate in an effort to offer the next generation with the best possible life opportunities. Often, the most affected pupils are from disadvantaged backgrounds will limited choices. Nurturing talent requires dedication and access to the best available knowledge pool of teaching partners. JHB, will offer, through specially curated facilities, educational resources which focuses on developing children not merely academically, but providing solid foundational opportunities for them to thrive effectively once they have entered society as future leaders.

PROJECTS INITIATIVES
THE BEATITUDES HOUSING INITIATIVE
The Beatitudes Upside Down Kingdom is founded on the principle of helping others and alleviating their struggles. The church emphasizes community, which is why the Beatitudes Project aims to repurpose closed and abandoned churches into homes, schools, restaurants, co-working spaces, and more.
Currently, around 20 churches under the Church of England are closed annually. These resources can be effectively utilized to address the need for viable housing solutions.
Additionally, we are committed to partnering with churches to invest in these projects, as we share the same ethos of empowering the disadvantaged. This collaboration will provide churches with sustainable income and profit, enabling them to support their outreach initiatives within the community while maintaining a balanced financial position.
THE EMPTY HOMES PROJECT
In November 2024, long-term empty homes in England were estimated at 265,061. With the country grappling with an economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit, and the global cost of living crisis, councils are either bankrupt, on the verge of bankruptcy, or lack the financial resources to effectively allocate funding to repurpose these homes.
Our proposal is not just to work with councils to repurpose these homes but to retrofit them for better energy efficiency, addressing the growing issue of fuel poverty, which has such a crippling impact on families and the elderly.
The problem doesn’t stop with councils; numerous developments have since graced the skyline, left unfinished due to financial restrictions or cladding issues that have caused tragic loss of life since Grenfell. These spaces can be effectively utilized, whether through remodeling or demolition, creating a blank canvas to make use of much-needed land space.
A LEISURED LIFE
More than 200 pubs have closed in the first half of 2025. Additionally, other leisure facilities are facing a downturn, leading to numerous closures. As with previously discussed developments, these abandoned facilities often become derelict and, if not properly secured, attract rough sleepers and the homeless. Out of desperation, many occupy these unsafe buildings, disregarding the potential risks.
The recent amendments to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill aim to speed up planning decisions and cut through the red tape that has hindered development. This is a welcome approach that could help transform closed and derelict facilities into homes and viable spaces, positively impacting communities.
